AMSTERDAM – A functioning cocaine lab was discovered in a home in Amsterdam on Friday, November 7, during an ongoing investigation by the National Investigation and Intervention Unit. Eight suspects were arrested, and eleven searches were conducted at various locations in Amsterdam, The Hague, Alkmaar, and Velsen-Noord. The police announced this today.

During the operation, nearly 40 kilos of cocaine, more than 1,000 liters of chemicals, cutting agents, and cocaine production equipment were seized. Among the detainees are six people of Colombian nationality, one of Dominican nationality, and a 35-year-old Dutchman from The Hague.

The operation stems from an international investigation into a criminal organization, which previously led to the dismantling of a large cocaine lab near Liège by Belgian police. Sixteen arrests were made, and 100 kilos of cocaine and weapons were seized. Further action in the Dutch investigation is not ruled out.
