The Spanish Guardia Civil has dismantled a criminal network that brought hashish into the country on a large scale with self-assembled drones.

During the operation, nine suspects were arrested and officers found a series of purpose-built aircraft: eight fully operational drones and ten units still under construction.
The actions also brought up a significant amount of evidence. A total of 210 kilos of hashish was seized, along with more than 320,000 euros in cash.
The drones, equipped with fixed wings, were developed for long-haul flights and could cover more than 200 kilometers without a stopover. As a result, they were able to perform several nighttime runs in a row.
Research shows that the organization was able to transfer more than 200 kilos of hashish per night to Spain via this method. The combination of technological knowledge and organized logistics made the smuggling method difficult to intercept.
With the raid, the Guardia Civil hopes to have dealt a firm blow to a rapidly growing and technologically advanced form of drug transport.
