$600K worth of drugs seized in Highway 11/17 traffic stop


OPP discovered drugs and drug-trafficking paraphernalia in a vehicle they pulled over in Shuniah.

THUNDER BAY — Two people from Southern Ontario are in custody in Thunder Bay awaiting a court date for charges of drug trafficking.

OPP say they seized about $600,000 worth of cocaine and methamphetamine after stopping a vehicle on Highway 11/17 in Shuniah on Nov. 20.

The canine unit assisted in the investigation, which also turned up paraphernalia usually related to drug trafficking.

The accused include a 59-year-old man from Toronto and a 59-year-old woman from Cookstown.

They were remanded in custody to the Thunder Bay District Jail.
