Several live firearms, ammunition and narcotics found during raid in Berlin.

On the 8th and 9th of December, officers of the Berlin Police’s BAO Ferrum (special investigation task force) secured several live firearms and associated ammunition at multiple locations in Berlin.
The operation was carried out in coordination with:
- The Joint Investigation Group “Cigarettes” (Gemeinsame Ermittlungsgruppe Zigaretten) of the State Criminal Police Office (LKA Berlin),
- The Financial Control of Undeclared Work (Finanzkontrolle Schwarzarbeit) of the Berlin Main Customs Office,
- The Public Prosecutor’s Office, Department for Financial/ Fugitive Matters,
- The Regulatory Office of the Spandau District.
Officers conducted inspections at two business premises in Charlottenburg and a bar in Wilhelmstadt.
During regulatory checks, officers found a live firearm in a waist bag on Fasanenstraße. The firearm was linked to a 23-year-old man. In addition, 23 portions of powder suspected to be narcotics were found in the suspect’s jacket. Both the firearm and the suspected narcotics were confiscated.
Under a search warrant, the suspect’s apartment in Moabit was also searched. Officers found two blank-firing guns (“Schreckschusswaffen”) there. For safety reasons, these were also secured. The 23-year-old was taken into custody and is scheduled to be presented to an investigative judge today for the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Further searches were conducted this morning under the order of the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office by the LKA’s specialist commission for illegal live firearms. Locations searched included:
- A private residence in Velten (Brandenburg),
- Five residential and business addresses in Berlin.
These searches were part of an investigation against two men, aged 35 and 34, suspected of illegal weapons trading.
At the apartment of the 35-year-old suspect in Wittenau, officers discovered a live firearm with ammunition. Additional firearms and ammunition were found at a business property in Niederschönhausen belonging to the suspect. All items were confiscated. The 35-year-old is to be presented to a magistrate. The investigation is ongoing.
During the operation, police verified the identities of 52 individuals and checked 44 vehicles. One driver was found to be operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
