Man held over $2.3m in drugs found in HK storage


South Carolina prison guards posted a photo of a special delivery they claim to have intercepted en route to inmates at Lee Correctional Institution.

A 21-year-old Nepalese man holding a Hong Kong identity card was arrested on suspicion of trafficking dangerous drugs following a two-day police operation in Pat Heung, Yuen Long.

During the operation from December 8 to 9, officers from the Narcotics Bureau raided three suspected drug storage facilities believed to be controlled by the man in the Western district, Aberdeen and Pat Heung.

Police seized 3.2 kilograms of suspected ketamine, about 350 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 8,300 suspected ecstasy pills and a small quantity of suspected methamphetamine. The total estimated street value of the seized drugs exceeds HK$2.3 million.

The arrested man will be charged with one count of trafficking in dangerous drugs. He is scheduled to appear at Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts on Thursday morning.
