BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A Baldwin County man has been sentenced to prison time on child porn and sexual exploitation charges,
According to a Department of Justice news release, 38-year-old Logan Smith was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty in June to sexual exploitation of a minor, attempted enticement of a minor and possession of child pornography.
Law enforcement said they received a tip that Smith had been distributing child porn.
Through further investigation, officials found that Smith had been talking to a minor for months, allegedly exploiting the minor on social media.
The release said that Smith told the minor to “record sexually explicit conduct and send those videos and images to him.”
He also allegedly told the minor he was going to drive to meet her in person to have sex with her.
Officials said they also found two phones with “hundreds” of photos and videos of child pornography.
After being released from prison, Smith will serve a 15-year term of supervised release, as well as have to register as a sex offender.
He will also have to pay $7,220 in restitution to his victims.
