A 21-year-old in Bamberg was arrested for dealing drugs via social media. Police are investigating a possible link to a minor’s death.

A 21-year-old man from Bamberg, Germany, has been arrested and placed in pre-trial detention on suspicion of dealing illegal drugs and prescription medication via social media platforms, particularly Snapchat.
According to police and prosecutors, the suspect allegedly sold substances such as Oxycodone and LSD-type drugs, including to minors. During a search of his apartment, investigators seized drugs, mobile phones, computers, and a five-figure sum of cash.
The investigation became more serious after the death of a 16-year-old in October. Authorities are examining whether the teenager consumed drugs that may have been purchased from the suspect. A forensic toxicology report is still pending, and the death has not yet been legally linked to the accused.
Police emphasized that social media platforms are increasingly used for illegal drug distribution, but that digital evidence and chat histories often allow investigators to identify and arrest suspects. The case is ongoing, and further charges are possible.
