Coast guard officials have seized large quantities of cocaine and cannabis in Patra and arrested two men in connection with the case.

Authorities said the operation began when officers from the Patra port authority inspected a truck that had been unloaded at the port from a ferry arriving from Italy. The inspection was prompted by an alert from a drug-detection dog.
Inside the truck’s cabin, officers found 20 plastic packages containing cocaine with a total gross weight of nearly 23 kilograms, the coast guard said.
A subsequent search of the truck’s cargo area uncovered 163 plastic packages containing hydroponically grown raw cannabis, weighing a total of more than 133 kilograms, as well as an additional 20 plastic packages of cocaine weighing nearly 22 kilograms.
Two men, aged 49 and 41, were arrested in connection with the case. No further information about their identities was immediately available.
Officials said the 41-year-old was detained in the western Athens suburb of Haidari after traveling there by car to pick up part of the seized drugs.
A search of the 49-year-old’s home in Chalkoutsi, on Attica’s northern coastline, uncovered an electric stun gun, a 25-centimeter hunting knife, 13 stamps bearing the names of various Greek and Bulgarian companies, and a laptop.
