$90K in Drugs Seized From SUV Carrying Two Children


Calcasieu Parish authorities seize $90,000 worth of drugs from an SUV carrying two children during a traffic stop, officials say.

IOWA, La. (KPLC) – A Baton Rouge man is facing a laundry list of charges after being pulled over with $90,000 worth of drugs and two teens in his vehicle, Calcasieu Parish authorities said.

Around 8 p.m. on Jan. 28, investigators with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (CAT Team) pulled over Sirdonovan Jordan, 37, on I-10 in Iowa, CPSO spokesperson Kayla Vincent said.

Investigators spoke with Jordan, along with 12-year-old and 16-year-old passengers, Vincent said. Detectives spotted drugs in plain view and began a probable cause search.

Detectives found the following inside the cargo area of Jordan’s SUV:

  • 12 pints of promethazine
  • Over 5 lbs. of suspected synthetic marijuana
  • Over 1 lb. of suspected cocaine inside a black trash bag

Detectives also found several suspected MDMA pills and a gun chambered with a live round under the driver’s seat, Vincent said.

Investigators also found suspected marijuana on one of the teens. According to Vincent, Jordan had given it to the teen and instructed her to dispose of it when they were pulled over.

Investigators estimate the total street value of the seized drugs to be over $90,000.

Authorities also learned Jordan has a violent criminal history. According to Vincent, he’s a convicted felon on probation until January 2026 for possession of a Schedule II drug.

Jordan was arrested on the following counts:

  • Possession of a Schedule I drug with intent to distribute
  • Possession of a Schedule II drug with intent to distribute
  • Possession of a Schedule I drug (2 counts)
  • Possession of a legend drug
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
  • Illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of drugs
  • Obstruction of justice
  • Cruelty to juveniles
  • Soliciting minors to distribute.

Jordan is currently being held at the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a $1,785,500 bond.

Vincent said the children were placed in state custody by the Department of Children and Family Services.
