Florida man gets 12-year federal sentence for fentanyl distribution and firearm offenses, part of DOJ’s Operation Take Back America initiative.

Corderrius Terrelle McShane, 38, of Ocala, Florida, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to multiple drug and firearm offenses. McShane admitted to distributing more than 40 grams of fentanyl, possessing more than 40 grams of fentanyl with intent to distribute, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and unlawfully possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The sentence was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
U.S. Attorney Heekin stated that the lengthy sentence reflects the serious danger posed by the defendant’s actions, noting that fentanyl is an extremely lethal substance that threatens public safety. He emphasized that the prosecution aligns with the Department of Justice’s commitment under Operation Take Back America to aggressively combat drug trafficking and violent crime. Heekin added that his office remains focused on ensuring safe, drug-free communities throughout the Northern District of Florida.
According to court records, McShane sold approximately 55 grams of fentanyl in November 2024. Later that same month, law enforcement officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle he was driving and discovered more than 230 grams of fentanyl along with a loaded firearm. McShane’s criminal history includes prior felony convictions for weapons offenses, resisting law enforcement with violence, possession of cocaine, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The investigation was conducted jointly by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Jessica S. Etherton prosecuted the case.
This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative aimed at dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, combating illegal immigration, and protecting communities from violent crime and drug trafficking.
