Waltham Abbey Drug Line Dismantled, Dealer Jailed

Essex Police say a drug line in Waltham Abbey was dismantled and the dealer jailed for 45 months after heroin and crack cocaine supplies were traced to him.

Ikumelo is searched by officers before his arrest in Waltham Abbey

A drug supply line operating in the Waltham Abbey area has been dismantled and the person behind it sentenced to 45 months in prison, Essex Police say.

Detectives from the force’s Operation Raptor team identified Daniel Ikumelo, 35, as the operator of a Scott phone line used to order narcotics, and linked him to delivering crack cocaine and heroin to customers between February 2024 and October 2025.

Ikumelo, of Florence Court in Hackney, was arrested in an alley off Mason Way in Waltham Abbey on 9 October 2025 after officers spotted suspicious activity. He later appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court, where he was convicted of supplying Class A drugs, possessing criminal property (cash), and carrying a lock knife in a public place.

During the initial stop and search, officers from Operation Raptor and the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) seized heroin, crack cocaine, £300 in cash, a burner phone, scales and items linked to drug dealing. A subsequent search of a three-storey house in Barking Riverside recovered further heroin and crack cocaine, £25,000 in cash, a £5,500 diamond ring and jewellery, more digital scales, three passports in Ikumelo’s name, additional phones and a black flick knife.

In total, detectives seized around £40,000 worth of drugs, cash and assets, and estimate that the drug line had generated more than £80,000 in revenue in the seven months before the arrest.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by Essex Police to disrupt county line drug supply and target individuals exploiting mobile “Scott” phone networks to distribute Class A substances locally.
