Hackers dump 680,000 customer records from Odido on the dark web and threaten further releases if ransom demands aren’t met.

Hackers have published approximately 680,000 stolen customer records from Dutch telecom provider Odido on the dark web after threatening further leaks unless a ransom demand of more than €1 million is paid, according to Dutch media reports.
The cybercriminal group ShinyHunters said it will release additional data over the next 16 days if Odido does not comply with its extortion demands. The group claims to possess personal information for more than 10 million current and former customers, making this one of the largest alleged data breaches in the Netherlands.
The initial dataset published includes names, home addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and about 275,000 IBAN bank account numbers. Media analysis indicates the leak also contains internal customer service notes, including details about payment reminders, debt status and interactions with staff including information about customers facing financial difficulties.
Odido previously confirmed a major cyberattack earlier this month that may have exposed data for around 6.2 million customers, prompting authorities to launch a criminal investigation. The company has advised affected customers to monitor their accounts for suspicious activity.
Cybersecurity experts warn that paying ransoms does not guarantee data will remain private, as stolen information can circulate widely on dark web forums even after payments are made.
The Dutch Public Prosecution Service has opened an investigation into the breach, and law enforcement agencies are urging customers to remain vigilant for phishing, fraud and other misuse of exposed personal data.
