Meth Trafficker Sentenced to Nearly 16 Years in Federal Prison

A Salem, Oregon man gets 188 months for leading a multistate meth trafficking ring that shipped hundreds of pounds of meth through Idaho and beyond.

A federal judge has sentenced 28-year-old Cesar Delfin-Cervantes of Salem, Oregon to 188 months (nearly 16 years) in federal prison for his role in a multistate and international methamphetamine trafficking organisation, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.

According to court filings, Delfin-Cervantes was a leader in a drug trafficking network that arranged for large-scale shipments of methamphetamine to be transported from Mexico through California, eventually reaching Oregon and parts of Idaho where he organised distribution. Over a span of about five months, investigators seized more than 215 pounds of methamphetamine connected to the organisation.

The investigation also revealed that the organisation operated for roughly two years, during which it transported and sold hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine across state lines. The seizures and arrests were the result of coordinated action by federal and local agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and several police departments.

In addition to the lengthy prison term, the court ordered Delfin-Cervantes to serve five years of supervised release following his incarceration.

The man’s father, Juan Carlos-Delfin, was previously convicted in the same trafficking network case and is set for sentencing in April 2026, while his sister faces pending federal charges related to the operation in Oregon.

Officials highlighted the investigation as part of broader efforts by federal, state and local law enforcement to dismantle organised drug trafficking operations and disrupt the distribution of illegal methamphetamine in communities across the U.S.
