Drug Dealer Jailed After Loaded Gun and £36k Seized

A drug dealer is jailed after the National Crime Agency finds a loaded gun, £36,000 in cash and drugs during traffic stop and property raids.

A drug dealer has been sentenced to prison after being stopped by officers from the National Crime Agency and found with a loaded handgun and a large amount of cash, the agency said.

The incident occurred on 29 October 2025 when NCA officers stopped the suspect’s car in Radlett, Hertfordshire. The man shocked investigators by openly admitting, “There’s thirty grand in there and a handgun,” before directing officers to the back seat of his Volkswagen Golf, where they found a loaded blank-firing pistol converted towards lethality and approximately £30,000 in cash.

Following the initial stop, NCA investigators conducted further searches of the suspect’s properties, uncovering more evidence of a drug distribution network, including around 3.3 kilograms of cannabis, an additional £5,900 in cash and a cash-counting machine all pointing to organised drug dealing activity.

At St Albans Crown Court, the defendant pleaded guilty to multiple offences, including possession of a firearm, drug supply and related criminal conduct. He was sentenced to just over six years in prison, with additional months added for breaching a suspended sentence from a previous assault conviction.

Investigators highlighted that the firearm, though technically a blank-firing model, could be converted into a lethal weapon with simple tools, making its possession by a drug dealer a serious threat. The NCA said the sentence reflects ongoing efforts to tackle the link between firearms, cash proceeds and drug trafficking in communities.
