A woman from Columbia, Connecticut has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison after coercing an 11-year-old boy into sexual activity, federal prosecutors announced.

Alyson Cranick, 44, received a 240-month prison sentence in federal court in Bridgeport. After serving her sentence, she will also face 10 years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.

Investigators said Cranick first contacted the victim through text messaging and Snapchat, later moving the conversations to the online chat platform Discord. Over a period of several months in 2022, she exchanged more than 4,700 messages with the child.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Unit.
