Irish police seize €5.25M cocaine in Monaghan raid. One man charged as Operation Tara targets major drug networks.

Authorities in the Republic of Ireland have confiscated cocaine valued at approximately €5.25 million in a targeted operation against drug trafficking networks.

The seizure followed coordinated searches conducted by Irish police across multiple vehicles and a commercial property in County Monaghan on Friday. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals a man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s.

The male suspect is scheduled to appear before Monaghan District Court on Monday, while the woman has since been released without charge.

Officials confirmed that the confiscated substances will undergo detailed examination by Forensic Science Ireland to verify their composition and purity.

The operation was carried out as part of Operation Tara, a nationwide initiative launched in 2021 to disrupt organized drug networks. The effort involved officers from the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, supported by the Dublin Crime Response Team.

Additional assistance was provided by regional units in Monaghan, along with the Custom Revenue Service and international partners, including Belgian Federal Maritime Police.

Operation Tara continues to focus on dismantling criminal groups involved in the importation, production, and distribution of illegal drugs across Ireland.
