RCMP seized firearms, drugs and ammo in Turtleford, charging a 37-year-old man with more than 20 offences.

A major police operation in Saskatchewan has led to the seizure of firearms, large quantities of drugs, and thousands of rounds of ammunition, with a 37-year-old man now facing more than 20 criminal charges.
Officers from the Turtleford detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) executed a search warrant on March 4, 2026, at a residence on Thunderchild First Nation as part of an ongoing investigation.
During the search, police discovered a loaded handgun, an illegally modified firearm, and numerous weapon components, including a barrel capable of firing. Authorities also seized thousands of rounds of ammunition, along with additional weapons such as a butterfly knife and nunchucks.
Investigators reported finding significant quantities of suspected drugs at the property, including approximately 400 grams of methamphetamine, around 33 grams of crack cocaine, and 26 grams of cocaine.
Following the investigation, Spencer Wapass, 37, was charged with multiple offences under both the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The charges include possession for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking, and numerous weapons-related offences, such as unauthorized possession of firearms and possession of prohibited weapons with ammunition.
Additional charges include possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a weapon contrary to an order, and tampering with a serial number.
Authorities confirmed that Wapass was already in custody after being arrested on an outstanding warrant prior to the search. He is scheduled to appear in St. Walburg Provincial Court on March 17, 2026.
RCMP officials say the seizure highlights ongoing efforts to target drug trafficking and illegal weapons in Saskatchewan communities, particularly through intelligence-led investigations focused on high-risk offenders.
