Two Men Charged After Meth, Heroin Seizure in Perth

AFP charges two men after 24kg meth and 3.5kg heroin seized in Perth traffic stop linked to interstate drug trafficking.

Two men have been charged following the seizure of significant quantities of methamphetamine and heroin during a targeted vehicle stop in Perth, Australian authorities confirmed.

The arrests were made on March 18, 2026, after investigators identified a suspicious four-wheel-drive vehicle that had travelled from South Australia into Western Australia. The vehicle was stopped in Mundaring, where officers conducted a search.

During the operation, authorities allegedly discovered 24 kilograms of methamphetamine and 3.5 kilograms of heroin, along with a small amount of cash concealed inside the vehicle.

The two suspects a 22-year-old man from Western Australia and a 32-year-old man from South Australia were charged with drug possession offences, including intent to sell or supply both substances. They appeared in Midland Magistrates Court and are scheduled to return on April 21, 2026.

Investigators believe the drugs were being transported across state lines as part of a broader trafficking operation. As part of the ongoing inquiry, authorities also executed a search warrant at a residence in Mount Barker, South Australia, with assistance from interstate law enforcement partners.

The case forms part of a wider effort by the Western Australia Joint Organised Crime Taskforce, which brings together multiple agencies to disrupt serious and organised crime networks operating across Australia.

Officials emphasized that such operations are aimed at preventing harmful illicit substances from reaching communities, noting the significant impact drug trafficking continues to have nationwide.

The investigation remains ongoing.
