Eurojust Operation Leads to Arrests, Millions Seized

Eurojust-coordinated operation across six countries leads to arrests and seizure of assets worth millions in major fraud probe.

An international investigation into large-scale financial crime has resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of assets worth millions of euros following a coordinated operation across Europe.

The action, supported by Eurojust, involved more than 400 investigators working simultaneously across six countries. Authorities conducted searches at 49 locations in Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland as part of the investigation.

Two suspects were arrested during the operation, including the alleged main target of the investigation, a real estate developer based in the Düsseldorf region of Germany. The individual is suspected of committing serious financial crimes including bankruptcy fraud, embezzlement, and violations of accounting regulations.

Investigators believe the suspect moved substantial personal assets into accounts belonging to other individuals before initiating insolvency proceedings. By concealing the assets, authorities say he was able to defraud creditors of tens of millions of euros.

During the coordinated raids, authorities seized a wide range of evidence including mobile phones, computer equipment, financial records and business documents. Investigators also froze and confiscated high-value assets linked to the suspected scheme.

Among the items seized were cash, luxury watches, artworks, designer handbags, and a high-end sports car, all believed to be connected to the fraudulent activities under investigation.

Eurojust said the coordinated action demonstrates the importance of international judicial cooperation when tackling complex cross-border financial crimes. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue examining the seized evidence and financial transactions tied to the suspects.
