Irish police seize €7M worth of cannabis in County Kildare raid under Operation Tara. Four suspects arrested during planned search.

Irish police have seized cannabis worth an estimated €7 million following a planned operation in County Kildare.
Officers from Gardaí carried out a series of searches at a property in the town of Athy on Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking networks.
During the raid, authorities discovered a large quantity of cannabis. The drugs have since been confiscated and will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for detailed examination and analysis.
Four people were arrested at the scene, including two men in their 30s, a man in his 40s, and a woman in her 20s. All were detained in connection with the investigation.
Police said the operation was conducted under Operation Tara, a nationwide initiative launched in July 2021 aimed at disrupting organized crime groups involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, and sale of illegal drugs across Ireland.
Following the seizure, investigators appointed a senior investigating officer to lead the case, and an incident room has been established at Carlow Garda Station to coordinate further inquiries.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as they work to identify the wider network involved in the drug operation.
