Sydney Unit Hid Guns, Ammo and Disguise Gear

A Sydney storage unit hid loaded guns, a grenade and 15,000 rounds of ammo, sparking serious charges after a major police raid.

A 39-year-old man has been charged after police seized $140,000 in cash and a large cache of weapons, including a grenade, loaded guns, and 15,000 rounds of live ammunition, following multiple raids across Sydney’s south-west.

The investigation began on Monday after reports emerged of firearms and ammunition stored in a unit on Milperra Road in Revesby. Police established a crime scene and executed a search warrant at the storage facility.

Authorities discovered a “flashbang” grenade, seven firearms, three gel blasters, 15,000 rounds of live ammunition, numerous magazines, and seven ballistic vests. The haul also included 16 electronic stun devices, handcuffs, firearm parts such as silencers, tracking devices, knives, electronic devices, a security uniform, and lifelike silicone head masks.

The man was arrested around 10:15 am on The Avenue in Yagoona following a vehicle stop and was taken to Bankstown Police Station.

Police subsequently executed three more search warrants at properties in Yagoona and Georges Hall, as well as a storage facility in Moorebank. These searches uncovered one loaded pistol, a loaded revolver, two additional firearms, firearm parts, six magazines, two silencers, mobile phones, and approximately $140,000 in cash.

The 39-year-old has been charged with 60 offences, including possession of multiple unregistered firearms and possession of unauthorised and prohibited firearms. He was refused bail and is due to appear at Bankstown Local Court today.
