Two men in metro Atlanta are charged federally for trafficking five kilograms of fentanyl, seized during coordinated law enforcement operations.

Two men from metro Atlanta have appeared in federal court facing charges for their alleged roles in trafficking five kilograms of fentanyl, authorities said.
Federal prosecutors allege that Osiel Adame-Gomez, 27, of Loganville, Georgia, and Miguel Velazquez-Garcia, 26, of Atlanta, participated in the illegal distribution of large quantities of the potent synthetic opioid fentanyl.
The case stems from a coordinated investigation that began when DEA special agents received information about a planned fentanyl sale at a warehouse in Doraville, Georgia. On February 5, 2026, agents tracked a rented moving truck linked to the plot and later intercepted Adame-Gomez near a storage facility. A search at the site uncovered about one kilogram of fentanyl.
Days later, on February 9, officers stopped Velazquez-Garcia’s vehicle in Stone Mountain, where a police K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics. A search revealed another kilogram of fentanyl. Subsequent searches of homes associated with Velazquez-Garcia in Stone Mountain and Stonecrest uncovered an additional three kilograms of fentanyl and a significant amount of suspected drug proceeds.
Both men are charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and were ordered to remain in federal custody without bail pending trial. Prosecutors are advancing the cases with assistance from the Gwinnett County Police Department and the DeKalb County Police Department.
U.S. authorities described fentanyl as a highly lethal synthetic opioid and underscored that this seizure and subsequent charges reflect ongoing federal efforts to disrupt fentanyl distribution networks under initiatives like Operation Take Back America.
