Gang Member Arrested in Major Fentanyl Trafficking Bust


Valdosta Police narcotics investigation uncovers guns and drugs, leading to arrests and seizures tied to trafficking and firearm possession.

GUADALUPE COUNTY, TexasLaw enforcement has arrested a suspect accused of numerous federal drug trafficking charges.

In a significant breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) Special Investigations Bureau Narcotics Unit, in collaboration with the DEA San Antonio Field Division HSTF Group D51, has apprehended Daniel Mendoza Jr. on Jan. 14, 2026.

Mendoza, a confirmed member of the Tango Orejon gang and currently on parole, was the focus of a long-term investigation that began in mid-2025.

During the operation, investigators seized a substantial quantity of narcotics and an illegal firearm. The contraband included 6,000 M30 tablets, approximately 603 grams of fentanyl and fluorofentanyl, 62 grams of cocaine, 210 grams of alprazolam, multiple THC cartridges, and one Sig Sauer semi-automatic handgun.

Following the presentation of evidence to the Assistant United States Attorney’s office in San Antonio, Mendoza was indicted on federal charges, including possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and fluorofentanyl.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed in the Western District of Texas Federal Courts. Sheriff Joshua Ray emphasized the commitment of the GCSO to combat narcotics trafficking, stating,
