Three Dublin Port operations seized €11.5M in drugs, cash and led to two arrests over the weekend of July 24–26.
Irish authorities seized illegal drugs worth an estimated €11.5 million during three separate operations at Dublin Port over the weekend of July 24–26, 2026, resulting in the arrest of two people and the recovery of nearly €144,000 in cash.
The seizures were carried out by the Revenue Customs Service and An Garda Síochána as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt organized crime groups involved in drug trafficking through Ireland’s ports.
The first operation took place on Friday, July 24, when Revenue officers discovered approximately 24.5 kilograms of cocaine concealed inside a refrigerated shipping container that had arrived from Rotterdam, Netherlands. The cocaine, estimated to be worth more than €1.7 million, was uncovered during routine customs checks with assistance from a Revenue detector dog and a mobile X-ray scanner.
A day later, on Saturday, July 25, authorities made the largest seizure of the weekend. Officers from the Revenue Customs Service, working alongside the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), intercepted approximately 392 kilograms of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €7.84 million. The cannabis was recovered during an intelligence-led operation at Dublin Port.
The final operation took place on Sunday, July 26, when Revenue officers stopped and searched a truck and trailer that had arrived from Cherbourg, France. Assisted by a detector dog and a mobile X-ray scanner, officers recovered approximately 80.5 kilograms of herbal cannabis, 5 kilograms of cocaine, and €143,900 in cash. The drugs seized during the operation are estimated to be worth €1.95 million.
Following the Sunday seizure, a man and a woman were arrested and taken to a Garda station in Dublin, where they remain under investigation. Authorities have not released their identities.
Revenue confirmed that investigations into all three seizures are continuing. Officials said the operations form part of the agency’s wider strategy, in partnership with An Garda Síochána, to target organized criminal networks responsible for the importation, distribution, and sale of illegal drugs in Ireland.
The agency also urged businesses and members of the public with information relating to smuggling activities to report it confidentially through Revenue’s reporting channels.
This series of interceptions marks one of the largest drug enforcement weekends at Dublin Port this year, underscoring the continued role of intelligence-led inspections and routine customs checks in disrupting international trafficking routes.
