Warren teacher Mark Sharrow faces 12 charges after police allegedly found CSAM, methamphetamine and LSD during a home search.

A 37-year-old Warren, Michigan, teacher is facing 12 criminal charges after police allegedly found child sexual abuse material, methamphetamine and LSD during a search of his home and cellphone.
Mark “Marky” Michael Sharrow was arraigned Wednesday before Judge Steven Bieda in Warren’s 37th District Court.
Sharrow faces five counts of possessing child sexually abusive material, five counts of using a computer to commit a crime, and one count each of possessing methamphetamine and LSD.
The search was carried out Tuesday in connection with Sharrow’s arrest on a separate third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge stemming from an investigation in Houghton Lake, according to Macomb County prosecutors.
Details of that underlying allegation were not immediately available.
During the search of Sharrow’s home, investigators allegedly found sexually explicit videos involving minors on his cellphone, prosecutors said.
Police also allegedly discovered methamphetamine and LSD during the search.
The charges related to possession of child sexual abuse material carry a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison. The computer-related charges also carry a maximum sentence of up to 10 years.
The methamphetamine possession charge carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years, while the LSD charge carries a maximum of one year in jail.
The charges are allegations, and Sharrow is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Sharrow is a teacher at the Warren Consolidated School of Performing Arts, according to district officials.
The school’s staff information lists him as working with costumes and drama. His responsibilities include supervising the costume shop, including makeup and wigs. He also teaches voice and movement for actors, drama development, sewing, textiles and costume construction.
Warren Consolidated Schools Superintendent John Bernia confirmed Sharrow’s arrest in a letter sent Wednesday to district families and the community.
Bernia said Sharrow was already on administrative leave when he was arrested. The district did not say whether the leave was connected to the investigation.
The superintendent also praised young people who came forward with information.
“I want to thank the young people who reported difficult information to members of our staff,” Bernia said. “It is never easy to bring forward serious information, and the bravery of these individuals is commendable.”
Judge Bieda set Sharrow’s bond at $1 million cash or surety only. If released, he must wear a GPS tether. He is also subject to restrictions on internet use and contact with minors.
Sharrow is scheduled for a probable-cause conference on September 1 before Judge Michael Chupa.
The criminal sexual conduct allegation and the additional charges filed against Sharrow remain pending before the court.
