Leicester man sentenced to over 9 years in prison for rape, strangulation, and stalking following trial at Manchester Crown Court.

A man has been sentenced to more than nine years in prison after being convicted of rape, strangulation, and stalking offences in Manchester.
Jack-Leland Webster, of Cedar Road in Earl Shilton, Leicester, was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on 8 April 2026 after a jury found him guilty of rape and strangulation. He had previously pleaded guilty to stalking the victim during an earlier hearing.
The offences stem from an incident in June 2024, when Webster accused the victim of being unfaithful. During the confrontation at a flat, he blocked doorways to prevent her from leaving. Prosecutors said he then climbed on top of the victim and strangled her while threatening her life before sexually assaulting her.
Investigators later discovered Webster had been impersonating the victim’s former partner online during their relationship in order to test her loyalty.
Even after being released on bail, Webster continued harassing the victim by creating multiple fake social media accounts to contact her, her friends, and family members. On one occasion, more than 100 accounts followed the victim within seconds as part of the stalking campaign.
During police interviews, Webster denied the allegations and reportedly treated the investigation lightly. Officers said he showed no remorse throughout the case.
Following the trial, the court sentenced Webster to nine years and five months in prison and issued an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim.
Detective Constable Lucy Hatton praised the victim for coming forward, stating that her cooperation helped investigators secure the conviction and bring the offender to justice.
Police said the case highlights the seriousness with which authorities treat stalking, domestic abuse, and sexual violence, encouraging victims to report such crimes so offenders can be prosecuted.
