CBP officers seize $1.1M in cocaine hidden in an “empty” truck at Texas border crossing from Mexico. Investigation ongoing.

Pharr, Texas, USA – U.S. border officials intercepted more than $1.1 million worth of cocaine hidden inside an “empty” commercial truck attempting to enter the country from Mexico.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the seizure took place at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility when officers flagged a tractor-trailer arriving from Reynosa for secondary inspection.
Using non-intrusive scanning technology and a canine unit, agents conducted a detailed search of the vehicle. Despite appearing empty, officers discovered 32 concealed packages of suspected cocaine hidden within the trailer floor.
Authorities said the narcotics weighed more than 80 pounds and have an estimated street value of $1,111,503.
No suspect has been publicly identified in connection with the seizure. CBP confirmed that the drugs, along with the truck and trailer, were confiscated while Homeland Security Investigations launched a criminal probe into the smuggling attempt.
Acting CBP Deputy Commissioner Ron Vitiello stated that a combination of advanced technology and officer expertise played a key role in detecting the concealed shipment, emphasizing ongoing efforts to prevent narcotics from entering U.S. communities.
The bust highlights continuing drug trafficking attempts along the southern border, where authorities regularly uncover large-scale smuggling operations using commercial vehicles and hidden compartments.
