Atlanta, USA / Grafenwöhr, Germany April 20, 2026 – A former U.S. Army soldier has been convicted by a federal jury for sexually and physically abusing two minors while stationed overseas in Germany.

Adam Schlueter, 39, of Atlanta, was found guilty on April 17, 2026, following a four-day trial in the Northern District of Georgia. He was convicted on two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a minor under 12 and two counts of assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Prosecutors said the abuse occurred between 2009 and 2013 while Schlueter was stationed in Grafenwöhr, Germany. During that time, he subjected two children both under the age of 10 to repeated physical and sexual abuse.

Court testimony revealed the victims were choked, beaten, and threatened. One victim told jurors that Schlueter pushed them through a second-story window and dangled them above the ground when they were eight years old. Authorities said Schlueter used threats of violence, including threats to kill witnesses, to prevent the abuse from being reported.

U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg condemned the crimes, stating that the defendant “spent years terrorizing his young victims” instead of serving with integrity.

Schlueter now faces a mandatory minimum of 30 years in prison for each aggravated sexual abuse charge and could receive a life sentence. His sentencing is scheduled for July 9, 2026.

The case was investigated by the FBI, with prosecutors noting that U.S. courts can pursue justice for serious crimes committed by military personnel abroad, even years after they occur.
