Dutch authorities arrested four suspects after intercepting a cocaine shipment bound for Australia through Schiphol Airport.

Dutch authorities have arrested four suspects following a major cocaine smuggling investigation linked to Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport and an air freight shipment destined for Australia.
The investigation began on January 15, 2026, after Dutch Customs intercepted a large quantity of cocaine concealed inside an air cargo shipment bound for Australia. The seized narcotics were handed over to the Cargo HARC-team Schiphol, a specialised task force focused on organised crime, drug trafficking, and money laundering operations connected to the airport.
On the same day the shipment was discovered, investigators arrested a 31-year-old woman from Capelle aan den IJssel. Authorities also searched her residence as part of the ongoing criminal investigation.
The case later expanded on May 19, 2026, when Dutch law enforcement arrested three additional suspects aged 28, 45, and 54 during coordinated operations in Rotterdam, Vlaardingen, and Maassluis. Prosecutors allege the suspects were involved in exporting the cocaine shipment through Schiphol Airport.
During searches linked to the arrests, investigators seized a large amount of cash, multiple digital storage devices, and several vehicles believed to be connected to the trafficking operation. Authorities said the electronic devices will undergo forensic analysis as investigators continue mapping the smuggling network.

The Cargo HARC-team Schiphol is a joint enforcement unit consisting of the Dutch Customs Administration, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, and the Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD). The task force works closely with prosecutors and aviation partners to combat organised criminal infiltration at Schiphol Airport.
Officials said the arrests also form part of the broader “Aanpak Ondermijning Schiphol” initiative, a long-running Dutch program aimed at preventing organised crime groups from infiltrating airport logistics, cargo handling, and transportation systems. The initiative includes cooperation between law enforcement agencies, Schiphol Group, KLM, local government authorities, and financial investigators.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact amount of cocaine seized or whether additional suspects remain under investigation. The probe remains ongoing.
