INTERPOL-backed Operation Orca XI led to the seizure of 3,308 firearms and 56 tonnes of drugs across the Americas.

A major international law enforcement operation across the Americas has resulted in the seizure of more than 3,300 illegal firearms and 56 tonnes of narcotics as authorities intensified efforts against organised crime and trafficking networks.
The operation, known as Operation Orca XI, was conducted between October 15 and November 30, 2025, across 20 countries in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean with coordination and operational support from INTERPOL.
According to INTERPOL, authorities seized a total of 3,308 firearms alongside massive quantities of illegal drugs, highlighting the growing connection between weapons trafficking and transnational narcotics operations. Investigators said organised criminal groups frequently use the same smuggling routes for firearms, drugs, migrant trafficking, and other illicit activities.
Participating countries also reported significant drug seizures during the operation, including cocaine, cannabis, and synthetic narcotics trafficked by criminal organisations operating throughout the region. Authorities stated the seizures disrupted multiple organised crime groups involved in cross-border trafficking operations.
INTERPOL said the operation was supported by intelligence analysis, regional threat assessments, and cross-border information sharing conducted in cooperation with the Organization of American States. The operation focused on dismantling trafficking routes and identifying networks responsible for supplying firearms to criminal groups across the Americas.
In one case highlighted by investigators in Chile, authorities seized more than one tonne of cannabis along with seven firearms, cash, and six vehicles connected to criminal activity. Other participating countries reported additional weapons and narcotics seizures tied to gang and cartel investigations.
INTERPOL Secretary General Valdecy Urquiza said the operation demonstrated “real progress in the fight against organised crime” and emphasized the importance of intelligence-sharing and international cooperation in combating evolving trafficking threats.
Officials warned that firearms trafficking remains closely linked to drug-related violence throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, where organised criminal groups use illegal weapons to protect trafficking routes, intimidate rivals, and expand territorial control.
Authorities confirmed investigations connected to Operation Orca XI remain ongoing, with additional arrests and enforcement actions expected as law enforcement agencies continue targeting transnational criminal networks throughout the region.
