Merseyside crime team jailed offenders for 850 years, seized £70M in drugs and disrupted 31 organised crime groups since 2021.
A specialist law enforcement partnership targeting organised crime across Merseyside has helped secure prison sentences totalling more than 850 years while seizing approximately £70 million worth of illegal drugs since it was established in April 2021, according to new figures released by the National Crime Agency (NCA).
The figures were published as the Merseyside Organised Crime Partnership (OCP) marked more than four years of operations. The partnership brings together officers from the National Crime Agency and Merseyside Police to investigate and disrupt organised crime groups involved in drug trafficking, firearms offences, money laundering and other forms of serious criminality.
Since its launch, the partnership has disrupted 31 organised crime groups, arrested 224 suspects, and secured the conviction of 184 offenders. Together, those convicted have received prison sentences exceeding 850 years, reflecting the scale of the criminal activity uncovered during the investigations.
The team’s operations have also resulted in the seizure of approximately £70 million worth of illegal drugs, more than £4 million in criminal cash, and 88 firearms. Authorities say the seizures have significantly disrupted organised crime networks operating across Merseyside and beyond.
The NCA said the results demonstrate the value of close collaboration between national and regional law enforcement agencies. By combining intelligence, surveillance, financial investigations and coordinated enforcement activity, the partnership has been able to identify, investigate and dismantle some of the region’s most significant organised crime groups.
Officials said the partnership remains committed to targeting the individuals and networks responsible for serious and organised crime, with the aim of making Merseyside a more hostile environment for criminal groups while helping to protect local communities.
The latest figures highlight the impact the partnership has made since 2021, underlining its continued focus on disrupting organised crime, removing illicit drugs and firearms from circulation, and bringing those responsible before the courts.
