£4m Cannabis Seized in NI Lorry Bust, Man Charged

PSNI and Garda seize £4m cannabis in lorry from Scotland to Larne. A 53-year-old man charged, due in court April 2026.

Police in Northern Ireland have seized suspected cannabis worth an estimated £4 million following a cross-border operation targeting organised crime.

The haul was discovered on Monday, April 2026, during a joint operation involving the Police Service of Northern Ireland and An Garda Síochána. Officers intercepted a lorry travelling from Scotland to Larne Harbour, where the drugs were found concealed inside boxes.

Investigators believe the shipment was destined for distribution among organised crime groups operating across the island of Ireland. The seizure is considered a significant disruption to illicit supply networks.

A 53-year-old man has been charged with possession of a Class B controlled drug and possession with intent to supply. He also faces additional charges relating to driving without a licence and operating a vehicle without insurance.

The suspect is scheduled to appear before Antrim Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday morning as the case proceeds.
