A Dutch suspect arrested on Ibiza with ketamine and MDMA led police to a major Rotterdam synthetic drug warehouse.

A Dutch man arrested on Ibiza with a suitcase packed with ketamine and MDMA has been linked to a major synthetic drug warehouse discovered near Rotterdam, authorities confirmed on May 19, 2026.
Spanish police from the Policia Nacional’s UDYCO narcotics division arrested the 23-year-old suspect from ’s-Hertogenbosch on May 14 while he was allegedly transporting a suitcase containing 49.5 kilograms of ketamine and approximately 56,000 MDMA pills on the Spanish island of Ibiza. The suspect remains in custody in Spain.
Following the arrest, Spanish and Dutch investigators exchanged intelligence that led authorities to several locations connected to the suspect in the Rotterdam region. Police first identified a warehouse in Rotterdam-Prins Alexander before carrying out a raid on another warehouse facility in the Nesselande district registered under the suspect’s name.
Inside the warehouse, Dutch police discovered more than 100 kilograms of MDMA, the active ingredient used in ecstasy pills, along with more than 1,000 kilograms of chemical precursor materials believed to be intended for synthetic drug production. Authorities seized all narcotics and raw materials during the operation.
Investigators also arrested a 33-year-old man from Capelle aan den IJssel who was present inside the warehouse during the raid. Authorities have not publicly disclosed additional details about his alleged role in the operation.
Photos released by Dutch police showed large quantities of chemical containers, drug production materials, and narcotics seized during the investigation. Authorities believe the warehouse was being used as part of a larger synthetic drug trafficking operation connected to cross-border narcotics distribution networks operating between the Netherlands and Spain.

The Netherlands remains one of Europe’s largest production hubs for synthetic drugs including MDMA and amphetamines, with Dutch law enforcement regularly uncovering industrial-scale drug laboratories and trafficking operations tied to organised crime groups.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests could follow as forensic and financial analysis continues.
